5 Ways to Grow Each Week

Did you know that our brain's storage capacity is considered unlimited? I personally love this fact, because it's proof we can never stop learning. Our brains will not hit a capacity limit and for me, this is amazing news! Learning makes me feel alive, so I'm constantly looking for new ways to consume information. There are typically five ways I try to learn and grow each week.

  1. E-mail newsletters or content subscriptions - When I find a product, service or publication I find interesting, I subscribe to their newsletter. I actually have an email address that I use specifically for these subscriptions. Each week I carve out time to go through the latest information and pick 2-3 articles, videos or events to read, watch or attend. My personal favorite subscriptions are:

  2. The Broadsheet by Emma Hinchliffe & Fortune

  3. Awesomely Luvvie

  4. BetterUp Newsletter

  5. Oprah Daily

  6. Harvard Business Review

  7. Podcasts or audio books - You can tune in on a walk, in the car, or while making your way through the grocery store. I devour content this way and have been known to crank it up to 1.2 or 1.3x speed. My go-to podcasts right now are:

  8. We Can Do Hard Things

  9. Super Soul Conversations

  10. Women at Work

  11. Armchair Expert

  12. She Sells

  13. Consciousness Raising Conversations - Each week I have at least one deep and meaningful conversation with someone. Sometimes it's with someone I know and other times it's with a complete stranger that I meet either through Linkedin, a mutual connection, or this awesome free app I use called Lunchclub. For those of you unfamiliar with Lunchclub, its a service that pairs you with someone on the globe for a fun and exciting virtual conversation. I've met some of the most interesting people on Lunchclub which has opened my eyes up to professions and perspectives I would have never been exposed to otherwise.

  14. Virtual Mentors - My primary goal of using social media is to learn from others. I have a very strict policy when it comes to who I choose to follow and it is: Will following this account serve me? If the answer is yes, I will follow. Posing this question has prompted me to find many virtual mentors that I admire and learn from each day. Some of my favorite include:

  15. Adam Grant

  16. Wrk360

  17. Eve Rodsky

  18. Tiffany Dufu

  19. Melinda French Gates

  20. Journal Prompts - I have several journals that include prompts in them that help me question and reframe my current way of thinking. There is always room to get curious with our thoughts, especially if we feel fear, sadness, resentment or frustration. When we are consumed by these feelings it's very hard for us to build a plan to move forward. The first step in breaking through these feelings is to explore where the feeling is coming from and why. My favorite prompted journals are:

  21. Get Untamed

  22. Becoming

  23. Your Story

How do you grow each week? Could you start to adopt one or more of these habits? Good luck on your growth journey, I'll be cheering you on!
