Today is International Transgender Day of Visibility | What We Should Know

Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) was founded in 2009 by Rachel Crandall, the Executive Director of Transgender Michigan.

The day was created to honor and empower the lives of transgender and non-binary people and is celebrated March 31st each year.

This year we can all take steps to be better allys:

  1. Seek out transgender activists to learn from like: @mslillianlennon, @therealalexbertie & @nikitadragun

  2. Educate yourself - The @transequalitynow has so many resources: https://transequality.org/

  3. Volunteer at your local LGBTQ center

According to a recent Gallup poll, 11.3 percent of LGBTQ adults identify as transgender, yet there is very little representation or general education in the mainstream media. Let's all do our part to learn more and support the transgender community.
